A camp cook, hunting guide, packer, horseman and all around great guy. Al Smith was a true pioneer of Wyoming and I was fortunate enough to have known him and priviledged to paint his portrait. A fixture in Cody and was always an ambassador who loved people and the West. A good friend to all.

An actor for National Geographic Magazine, lives in Dubois Wyoming in a log cabin. Hat was made from beaver then painted to replica of the Mongolian tribesmen hats. An authentic buckskin outfit that he made himself and sewn by hand and decorated with porcupine quills. A great guy who loves the mountains and enjoys people. I never tire of painting Sam and have done several major pieces.

BRULE CHIEFS SHIRT, 2017, Oil on board, 24 x 30 in. (+ frame 32.5 x 39 in.)

1800’s beaded with horsehair. I’ve always wanted to own one of these shirt but as price would have it, I painted this for my personal collection along with a buffalo painted shield, headdress, arrow scabbard and buffalo medicine headers. At least, these still lifes are accurate and will help to carry on the legacy’s of these beautiful icons of an era that has all but disappeared (Note the bullet hole on the front Lower right of shirt tail).

Handwritten field notes & original sketches of the outfitting camps and supplies are reproduced in this luxurious leather bound edition.
